Why, yes, I DO offer songwriting coaching . . .
One-on-one songwriting coaching sessions allow us to focus entirely on you and your songwriting craft. We consider your particular songwriting goals and design a course of action. Sometimes sessions involve teaching — for example guidance on chord progressions, melody composition, lyrics, or song form. Other times we work entirely on your songs. I offer practices for journey, help move through obstacles, make tough decisions, consider alternatives, and cross the finish line of the songs you most want to write.
Some songwriters like to meet weekly for a while, as a sort of creative touchstone and promise of support. Other songwriters like to schedule on an as-needed basis. Either way, we make extraordinary progress very quickly.
Songwriters have used sessions to develop songs for albums, prepare a live show, or just for the joy of songwriting.
“Kim is to songwriting what author and teacher Natalie Goldberg is to creative writing – someone who is specifically gifted at unlocking the creative process through well-placed guidance, prompts and of course, her own creative presence.”
-Joanne Maynard, Winnipeg, Manitoba
“My experience of working with Kim in a workshop capacity was, honestly, life changing. My five days with her were profound, and will affect the way I approach songwriting forever.”
-Delilah Jameson, Vancouver BC (after UBC Summer Songwriting Intensive)
